Truly, a wonder

We have started reading the Mercy Watson books to Eitan, and he seems to like them. Backstory: Mercy Watson is a pig. Her owners treat her as a child and frequently call her a porcine wonder. I explained to Eitan that “porcine” means “pig” but something didn’t sink in.

A couple weeks after this conversation, Eitan turns to Dodo and says “Dodo, you [are a] porcine wonder.”

Papa: “No, more like an ursine wonder!”

Eitan then insisted that Dodo truly was a porcine wonder.

Clearly, he understood the sentiment, if not the actual words.

What to do?

“Play all day,

nap all day,

eat all day,

count omer all day.”

Good thinking, Eitan!

Why Jesus?

Eitan was in the car with Papa. Someone was taking too long to turn.

Papa exclaimed: “Turn already, Jesus!”

“Why Jesus?” asked Eitan

“It’s a long story,” Papa replied

Phrasing

Eitan’s Name

Although entirely capable, Eitan refuses to say his own name. The more we try, the worse it gets. For a long time, he has called himself “Baby”. Recently, he learned that his middle name is Ori. This is apparently acceptable, and he now sometimes responds to the question, “What’s your name?” with “Baby Ori.” The best, however, was in the car yesterday. Rich asked Eitan his name and we got, “Happy boy!”
