Big Doings

Whenever we see construction, we yell “Big doings!” I noticed recently Eitan pronounces this “Big Doozings!” I thought this was cute.

Jupey

Since he was pretty small, Eitan called juice ‘jupe’. It is definitely his favorite drink, and he continues to call it jupe even though he can now pronounce the sound ‘s’. The other day he was helping me peel an orange and his finger punctured it. “Hmmmm, jupey!” was his reaction. It was great.

Willpower

For those unfamiliar with Frog and Toad, I recommend you pick up any one of Arnold Lobel’s four compilations. Nearly all of his reptilian short stories can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.

One such story, Cookies, concludes with a teachable moment about willpower. I won’t give away the story, but limiting sugary goods is a recurring theme. Following a recent reading, this was a conversation we had with Eitan…

Mama: How about we dress up as Frog and Toad? I can be Toad, Dada can be Frog, and you can be willpower.

Eitan: No, I will be Toad. You be willpower!

A New Phrase

When Eitan first started school, he came home saying “so much for that idea” A LOT. We wondered what made the teachers say that!

Make Me Funny

Eitan created this cute little turn of phrase today. The exact quote was: “Dodo makes me funny!” We’re pretty sure he means that Dodo makes him laugh.

Note from Hannah: Eitan continues to say this, whenever something makes him laugh: “make me funny!”

Cute Little Fellow

Dodo will forever be known as the cute little fellow. No idea where this came from.

Dodo Gets Me

While waiting for us to put on our shoes before heading out, Eitan squeezed his bear (affectionately named Dodo) and exclaimed that the inanimate object really understands him.

Eitan’s Name

Although entirely capable, Eitan refuses to say his own name. The more we try, the worse it gets. For a long time, he has called himself “Baby”. Recently, he learned that his middle name is Ori. This is apparently acceptable, and he now sometimes responds to the question, “What’s your name?” with “Baby Ori.” The best, however, was in the car yesterday. Rich asked Eitan his name and we got, “Happy boy!”

Conversations with Siri

At any given time while receiving direction’s from Apple’s Siri, this is the conversation we receive from the back seat of the car:

Siri: At the light, turn left.

Eitan: No…

Siri: Continue straight.

Eitan: No.

Siri: In 500 feet, turn right.

Eitan: No!

Suffice to say, we will continue to leave “Hey Siri” disabled.
